Training/CPD

The Careers and Enterprise Company offer an online induction which is designed for those newly appointed, to provide a foundation knowledge and understanding of the key elements of careers leadership. The Guide Learning Hours are between 2-4 hours and cover the following:

  • Careers leaderships and the careers landscape
  • Strategic planning and impact evaluation
  • Labour market information and pathways
  • Linking careers to the curriculum
  • Encounters with employers and providers and experiences of the workplace
  • Personal guidance
  • Funded careers leader training

Over 3,000 careers leaders have now completed the training and are using it to improve and develop their careers programmes. You can:

  • Choose from distant, face-to-face or blended learning courses.
  • Network and make new connections with other Careers Leaders.
  • Improve your knowledge of the role and gain access to a qualification (up to level 7)

To register for a fully funded place, first explore each of the training providers to decide which course is right for you – Training Providers. You can also use the comparison guide which provides greater detail on each of the providers, accreditation level options, duration and hours of study, assessment and direct contact.

On completion of the course, you will receive £1,000 to spend on any expenses required (e.g. staff cover) or furthering your CPD or Careers Programme. For more details on how the funding works, please read the FAQs.

* Funded training is available for careers leaders or personnel in all state-funded secondary schools and colleges, including SEN and AP and Independent Special Schools

This course is for careers personnel who have accessed some form of careers training prior to 2020 and would benefit from a ‘top-up’ of all the essentials of careers leadership. A shorter, 2-day course delivered by the CDI. Full information can be found via the flyer.

This course supports senior leaders to investigate how understanding careers provision can be employed as a vehicle for wider school/college improvement. It is an online delivery model including 3 full days of learning sessions. These days include extended offline activities so participants will not need to spend the whole day online.
