Fully-funded careers leader training
The CEC’s fully-funded training courses provide a huge opportunity for you as a Careers Leader to accelerate your school, special school or college towards achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Over 4,000 Careers Leaders have completed our fully funded, flexible training, and are using it to improve and develop their careers programmes.
Whether you’re experienced or new to the role, there’s a training course to help you inspire young people to find their next best step.
What’s new for the 2025/26 academic year?
All our funded Careers Leader training courses have been updated against a set of new learning outcomes. These bring all courses in line with statutory guidance and Gatsby Benchmark updates as well as aligning with Careers Impact System.
We have two modules available and Careers Leaders can decide to do one or both of them.
- Our Core module (3-days) is an offer suitable for all Careers Leaders regardless of experience, institution type or seniority within the institution.
- Our Extension module (2-days) is designed for Careers Leaders in, or ambitions to be in, strategic/senior leadership positions.
Once you log-in to our training portal, you will have the option to select one or both options with accredited and non-accredited routes as well as a distanced learning offer. We advise you to review our comparison guide and the course detail from each of our training providers.
Get started in three simple steps:
Step 1: Choose a provider
Explore our training providers to decide which course and provider are right for you. Check out our comparison guide to find the right training provider for you.
Step 2: Register
Once you know which course and training provider you wish to enrol with you can register through our Careers Leader Training Portal.
Step 3: Complete our Careers Leader induction
While you wait for your course to start, our free Careers Leader induction will give you the base level knowledge you need to hit the ground running with your funded training. You can find this course, and other online learning for Careers Leaders on The Careers & Enterprise Academy, the new online home of careers leadership.
Senior Leadership
This course supports senior leaders to investigate how understanding careers provision can be employed as a vehicle for wider school/college improvement. It is an online delivery model including 3 full days of learning sessions. These days include extended offline activities so participants will not need to spend the whole day online.
This provides a qualification which can be used for entry into the MA in Education. To find out more, go to https://causeway.education/school-college-careers-leadership or email Liana Oberholzer – l.oberholzer@wlv.ac.uk
